Strong Turing Degrees for Additive BSS RAM's
نویسنده
چکیده
For the additive real BSS machines using only constants 0 and 1 and order tests we consider the corresponding Turing reducibility and characterize some semidecidable decision problems over the reals. In order to refine, step-by-step, a linear hierarchy of Turing degrees with respect to this model, we define several halting problems for classes of additive machines with different abilities and construct further suitable decision problems. In the construction we use methods of the classical recursion theory as well as techniques for proving bounds resulting from algebraic properties. In this way we extend a known hierarchy of problems below the halting problem for the additive machines using only equality tests and we present a further subhierarchy of semi-decidable problems between the halting problems for the additive machines using only equality tests and using order tests, respectively.

An Explicit Solution to Post's Problem over the Reals
In the BSS model of real number computations we prove a concrete and explicit semi-decidable language to be undecidable yet not reducible from (and thus strictly easier than) the real Halting Language. This solution to Post’s Problem over the reals significantly differs from its classical, discrete variant where advanced diagonalization techniques are only known to yield the existence of such i...
متن کاملThe Turing Closure of an Archimedean Field
A BSS machine is δ-uniform if it does not use exact tests; such machines are equivalent (modulo parameters) to Type 2 Turing machines. We define a notion of closure related to Turing machines for archimedean fields, and show that such fields admit nontrivial δ-uniformly decidable sets iff they are not Turing closed. Then, the partially ordered set of Turing closed fields is proved isomorphic to...
متن کاملδ-uniform BSS Machines
A δ-uniform BSS machine is a standard BSS machine which does not rely on exact equality tests. We prove that, for any real closed archimedean field R, a set is δ-uniformly semi-decidable iff it is open and semi-decidable by a BSS machine which is locally time bounded; we also prove that the local time bound condition is nontrivial. This entails a number of results about BSS machines, in particu...
متن کاملSome improvements in fuzzy turing machines
In this paper, we improve some previous definitions of fuzzy-type Turing machines to obtain degrees of accepting and rejecting in a computational manner. We apply a BFS-based search method and some level’s upper bounds to propose a computational process in calculating degrees of accepting and rejecting. Next, we introduce the class of Extended Fuzzy Turing Machines equipped with indeterminacy s...
متن کاملStrongly Bounded Turing Reducibilities and Computably Enumerable Sets
Preface In this course we survey some recent work on the strongly bounded Turing re-ducibilities on the computably enumerable sets. Bounded Turing reducibilities are obtained from classical Turing reducibility by imposing upper bounds on the use functions (i.e., on the size of the oracle queries) of the reductions. The most popular bounded Turing reducibility which has been intensively studied ...
